Japan and Vietnam will ink an aid agreement worth US$650 million next month to help the Southeast Asian country to stimulate the economic growth, the state-run Vietnam News Agency said, citing Ambassador Mitsuo Sakaba.

This year the Japanese government will provide Vietnam with financial aid at the high record level, above the sum of US$1.1 billion seen in 2007, Mitsuo Sakaba noted.

Sakaba declined to disclose the total sum.

The Japanese aids will go to Vietnam’s infrastructure, environmental protection and energy-saving projects as well as development of supporting industries, the ambassador added.

In April, Japan and Vietnam signed a US$800 ODA agreement. (VNA)
