Oversea Vietnamese Ready to Invest in Vietnam

More overseas Vietnamese or Viet Kieu want to pour their investment into Vietnam for the country’s favorable investment environment, said newly established Overseas Vietnamese Entrepreneurs’ Association (OVEA).
 
A survey of Viet Kieu investment possibility at the founding ceremony of the OVEA early this month indicated that the 245 participants who owned US$41 million are preparing to invest in Vietnam.
 
The survey also showed that 95% of them want to invest in real estate projects and the rest want to enter trade and tourism projects.
 
To date, Viet Kieu have invested in around 3,000 projects totaling US$2 billion in Vietnam, the OVEA said.
 
The participants, however, suggested that Vietnam should offer a more transparent and open policies to attract investors.
 
Tran Long, a newly-elected Deputy Chairman of the OVEA, said that the association will set up a website to provide necessary information about Vietnam’s investment projects and Government policies for Viet Kieu all over the world.
 
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Thanh Son said that four million Viet Kieu now live in 101 foreign countries and territories with 1.5 million being Vietnamese-Americans. (VietnamNet)
