Construction Plan of Phu Quoc Island until 2030

On August 31, 2009, the Southern Urban and Rural Planning Branch under the Urban and Rural Planning Architecture (Ministry of Construction) presented reports on adjusted planning for construction of Phu Quoc Island until 2030 to the authorities of Kien Giang province.
 
According to the reports, Phu Quoc, the largest island in Vietnam, will consist of such areas as national forests (29,200 ha), protective forests (6,400 ha), agricultural land (7,600 ha), tourism sites (3,700 ha), three main urban zones (3,000 ha) and traffic systems (1,600 ha).
 
Land for tourism development will be divided into 13 sections, mainly along the coast, urban zones, airports and beaches like Cua Can Estuary, Vung Bau expanse, Dai expanse, Rach Tram expanse, Rach Vem canal, Ong Lang expanse and Thom expanse. These sections will have hotels, resorts, commercial centres, shopping centres, golf courses and sporting centres.
 
The final reports will be submitted to the Ministry of Construction and the Prime Minister for approval.
