Hanoi Lacks High-quality Tourism Human Resources
Vietnam’s capital city of Hanoi is lacking high-qualified tourism staff, the government of Vietnam said on its website, citing the city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Hanoi has 9,069 travel firms which employ 63,000 laborers and most of them are still weak in foreign languages and skills, the department’s statistics showed, adding that poor professional skills is a big barrier for luring international tourists.
The city is also home to 40 tourism training centers which cannot meet the sector’s demand.
At present, foreign tourists to Hanoi account for 33% of Vietnam’s total number.
In the first eight months, Hanoi welcomed 6.3 million domestic visitors, up 20% on-year. It is expected to receive two million international visitors by 2010. (chinhphu.vn)
