Vietnam Expects to Disburse US$2B in ODA This Year
Vietnam is forecast to disburse US$2 billion in official development assistance (ODA) this year, the government said on its website.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has proposed ministries, agencies and the municipal and provincial People’s Committees to streamline the administrative procedures to speed up disbursements of ODA aids.
The MPI asked concerned agencies to cooperate with donors to ensure capital for ODA-funded projects and assess the project implementation to raise the disbursement effectiveness.
To fulfill the ODA disbursement goal this year, the government has urged the Ministries of Planning and Investment; and of Construction to build regulations on investment costs and management of ODA projects.
Vietnam disbursed US$1.7 billion in ODA in the first nine months in 2009, meeting 90% of its full-year target, the MPI said. (Chinhphu.vn)
