Vietnam Apparel Industry Aims to Generate 965,000 Jobs Next Year: Vinatex

Vietnam’s apparel industry is expected to employ 965,000 workers next year and 1.3 million laborers by 2015, according to the Vietnam Textile and Garment Group (Vinatex).  
 
Of the number of 1.3 million, 1.25 million will be workers and 50,000 will be technicians and engineers.
 
The industry currently employs 760,000 laborers.
 
Vinatex said the garment and textile sector has expanded its workforce by an average of 60,000 people a year during the five past years.
 
Amid the global economic downturn the apparel industry is expected to receive a rising number of orders in the remaining months, a Vinatex official said late Oct.
 
Viet Tien, Garment 10, Nha Be Garment have won contracts to produce goods till May and June of next year, the official said, believing the sector will achieve its full-year export revenue of US$9.3 billion.
 
The apparel sector expects to reach export turnover of US$10.5 billion in 2010. (Local sources)
