Prices of agro-products such as vegetable, fruits, aquatic and seafood products have increased sharply in Ho Chi Minh City on thin supply caused by natural disasters.

The city’s Department of Market Management said that prices of vegetables, fruits, aquatic and seafood increased by VND5,000-VND10,000 per kg compared to that of last month.

Prices of rice also surged by VND2,000-VND5,000 per kg depending on quality while sugar prices were offered at VND15,000-VND16,000 per kg, the department said.

Experts blamed the price increase of agro-products for lower supplies from central highlands provinces, where agro-production was heavily damaged by typhoons and floods.

Higher freight and Vietnam dong devaluation are also attributed to the price high, they added. (Labor)
