International donors are expected to pledge US$6 billion in official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam next year at the Consultative Group (CG) Meeting this year, up 10%-15% on-year, according to an official from Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI).

MPI Deputy Minister Cao Viet Sinh forecast the country’s ODA disbursement will reach US$3.5 billion next year.

The move showed international donors’ confidence in Vietnam’s efforts to boost in ODA disbursement and improve the business environment.

The country is estimated to disburse US$1.99 billion in ODA between January and November this year, surpassing 5% of the full-year target, the MPI said.

The Southeast Asian country inked ODA agreements totaling US$5.45 trillion in first eleven months, the ministry added. (Banking Times)
