Vietnam Banks Prioritize Capital to Power Grid Projects

Commercial banks in Vietnam have been giving priority to lending to power grid projects across the country, the state-owned Electricity of Vietnam Group (EVN) said.
 
Indovina Bank has signed an agreement to lend the National Power Transmission Corporation (NPT) VND280 billion (US$15.151 million) to develop national power transmission line network.
 
Meanwhile, Tien Phong Bank will lend NPT VND150 billion and Bao Viet Bank VND100 billion.
 
Also, An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBank) has committed to lend VND800 billion to NPT this year. The bank will lend an additional VND5 trillion to NPT next year.
 
Saigon-Hanoi Commercial Joint Stock Bank (SHB) has signed a deal to lend VND830 billion to NPT’s 500-kV Quang Ninh-Hiep Hoa power transmission line project.
 
Vietnam Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Agribank), Vietnam Bank for Industry and Trade (VietinBank), Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) and Vietnam Bank for Investment and Development of Vietnam (BIDV) have pledged to lend thousands of billion of Vietnam dong to power grid projects.
 
The corporation has so far operated 56 power transmission projects. It needs VND148 trillion for its power transmission projects through 2015. (EVN)
