Vietnam Mechanics Sector Urged to Boost Structural Reform
Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has urged the mechanics sector to make a structural shift to participate in the labor division in the international manufacturing chain.
The cabinet official made the appeal at a seminar on potential of fabricating mechanical accessories for the energy industry held by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and Switzerland’s Alstom Group in Hanoi on Dec. 14, the government said on its website.
The sector was requested to boost cooperation among mechanical enterprises, the mechanics association and the government to facilitate the sector’s development.
At present, the sector has met 38% of the domestic demand for mechanical equipment.
Although the industry obtains an annual growth of 38% and 40%, Vietnam has to import US$18 billion worth of mechanical equipment per year. (
