Vietnam Jan-Sept Exports to ASEAN Drop 21.6% to US$6.55B

Vietnam shipped US$6.55 billion of goods to ASEAN countries in the first nine months of this year, dropping 21.6% from a year earlier.
 
In September, Vietnam exported US$753.8 million of goods to the bloc, up 23% from a month earlier, but down 4.24% on-year.
 
Crude oil was the country’s biggest cash earner with US$1.94 billion in Jan-Sept, down 13.79% on-year, followed by rice with US$1.17 billion, down 17.11% and seafood with US$459.93 million, down 17.42%.
 
Vietnam exported US$10.194 billion worth of goods to ASEAN in 2008 and imported US$19.57 billion, resulting in the country’s huge trade deficit of US$9.38 billion. (Trade Info)
