Vietnam Needs US$2B to Develop IT Human Resources by 2020

Vietnam is expected to need between US$1 billion and US$2 billion to develop IT manpower between now and 2010, the experts said at a national conference on the field in Hanoi Dec 9.
 
The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training (MOET) and the Ministry of Information and Communications co-organize the national conference on IT human resource development in Hanoi Dec 9.
 
The move is part of the country’s efforts to become a stronger country in the industry in the future, the Dau Tu newspaper reported Wednesday.
 
The event focuses on nine measures for IT manpower development, including advanced training methods, the newspaper added, citing experts at the conference.
 
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a master plan on developing IT manpower by 2015 with vision for further development through 2020 with total investment of VND900 billion (US$53.1 million).
 
Vietnam’s IT industry targets to have gross revenue to account for 20%-23% of its gross domestic product (GDP) by 2020. (Investment)
