Three Vietnamese Billionaires Hold US$1.48B Local Shares
Vietnam’s three richest men in the stock market held a combined VND27.26 trillion (US$1.48 billion) worth of local shares as of December 18 after the benchmark VN-Index rose 41.5% since the beginning of this year.
Chairman of Kinh Bac Urban Development Co. (KBC) Dang Thanh Tam who was ranked third in 2008’s top list, is the richest player in the local market this year.
Tam has owned VND9.66 trillion worth of 67.5 million KBC shares, 60 million SQC shares, 16 million SGT shares and 12 million ITA shares as of Dec. 18.
Three listed company namely KinhBac City (KBC), Saigontel (SGT), Saigon-Quy Nhon Minerals (SQC) are members of Saigon Investment Corp. (SGI), in which Tam is the chairman.
Property trader and chairman of Hoang Anh Gia Lai Group (HAG) Doan Nguyen Duc dropped to the second position after the lead in 2008, with VND9.24 trillion worth of 146.6 million HAG shares, the financial website cafef reported, citing figures from two local exchanges
Pham Nhat Vuong, biggest shareholder in Vincom Corp. (VIC) and Vinpearlland JSC (VPL), was ranked third with 85 million VIC shares and 20 million VPL shares worth VND8.363 trillion.
The assets of the remaining seven people in top ten billionaires were valued at VND10.3 trillion. (HOSE, HNX)
