Vietnam Retail Sales, Services Estimated to Rise 18.6% to US$64.8B This Year
Vietnam’s total retail sales and services revenue is forecast to have risen 18.6% from a year earlier to VND1197.48 trillion (US$64.8 billion) in 2009.
In December, the figure is estimated at VND120.562 trillion, up 4.2% on-month, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The country’s total retail sales and services revenue will reach US$85 billion in 2012, General Secretary Dinh Thi My Loan of the Vietnam Retailers Association said at a seminar on consumption trends and prospects of the retail market during the 2009-2010 held in Hanoi in November.
MasterCard said on its website last week that Vietnamese consumers are the most optimistic among the 24 surveyed markets in Asia-Pacific, the Middle East and Africa in the second half of this year. (Vietnam Economic Times)
