Da Lat Earns US$13M from Flower Export in 2009
Vietnam’s central highlands city of Da Lat, Lam Dong province, earned US$13 million from exporting more than 110 million flowers in 2009, up 30% from a year earlier and accounting for 80% of the country’s total flower export revenue.
Japan took the lead among big importers, accounting for 60% of the city’s total flower export value, followed by Australia, Taiwan, Singapore and EU.
The city also exported more than 5 million flower saplings to Japan, South Korea, Holland and Belgium last year, notching up US$4 million.
The city cultivates around 1,500 hectares of flower yearly with an output of 600 flowers. (People’s Police)
