HCM City Targets to Welcome 2.8M Foreign Tourists Next Year
Ho Chi Minh City targets to welcome 2.8 million foreign visitors in 2010, said La Quoc Khanh, deputy head of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
Foreign arrivals to the city are estimated at 2.6 million in 2009, much lower than the earlier set target of 3.1 million, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said.
The city expects to gain tourism revenues of VND34 trillion (US$1.9 billion) in 2009, up 10% on year, it added.
Currently, HCM City has the highest number of luxury hotels in Vietnam with more than 150 hotels.
The number of international tourists to the city accounts for 55% of Vietnam’s total number. (VNAT)
