Science, Technology Play Key Roles in Vietnam Econ Development: Deputy PM
Science and technology will be one of top prioritized national policies as it plays a vital role in Vietnam’s economic development, said Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung on January 10.
Hung made the statement at the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST).
Mr Dung asked the ministry to perfect the national strategy on scientific and technological development soon.
The MoST must intensify investment in scientific and technological development, train human resources, honor talented scientists, develop the technological market, deepen scientific research, boost up economic restructure through using scientific and technological advances, and further apply technology in all sectors to enhance competitiveness of products and services.
To help the country meet its target of becoming a middle-advanced industrialized nation by 2020, the MoST must begin to make necessary changes now, Hung said.
The science and technology sector has expanded cooperation ties with partners in over 70 countries and territories worldwide, and joined nearly 100 international and regional organizations. (VNA)
