Vietnam Imports US$399.7M worth of Electric Wires & Cables in 2009
Vietnam had spent US$399.7 million on importing electric wires and cables in 2009, the Ministry of Industry and Trade said.
The Southeast Asian nation’s electric wires and cable imports rose 35.2% from a year earlier to $51 million last December, the ministry said.
The country imported US$138 million worth of electric wires and cables from China in 2009, accounting for 34.5% of the country’s imports last year.
It was followed by Japan with $88.7 million, representing 22.2% of the total spending; Thailand $39 million, accounting for 9.8% and South Korea $35.8 million, making up for 8.9%.
FDI companies topped the list for spending $248.6 million on importing the goods in 2009, accounting for 62.2% of the country’s import spending on the products last year.
Vietnam had spent $6.2 billion on importing goods from foreign countries in 2009. (vinanet)
