Vietnam Jan-Jun FDI Disbursements +6% to $5.4B: Ministry
Foreign investors are estimated to have disbursed $5.4 billion in Vietnam in the first half of this year, rising 6% from a year earlier, state media reported, citing the Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) under Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Of the sum, $900 million is likely to be disbursed in June, the agency said in a report.
Between January and June, the country has licensed 438 foreign-invested projects totaling $7.9 billion, down 20% in volume and 43% in value on-year, the agency added.
Vietnam has also allowed 121 existing projects to add their capital by $525 million during the period, down 41% and 89%, respectively, it noted.
Foreign-invested enterprises have exported $17.2 billion worth of goods between January and June, including crude oil value, up 26.2% on-year. Meanwhile, they spent $16.1 billion on importing goods during the period, up 49% on-year.
This year, the Southeast Asian country expects to attract $25 billion and disburse $11 billion in FDI this year up 16.38% and 10% on-year respectively, the MPI said. (Vietnam Economic Times)
