Vietnam Imports from Thailand Soar 42.92% to US$2.03B in Jan-May

Vietnam spent US$495.6 millions on imports from Thailand in May, up 22.33% on year, raising the country’s imports to US$2.03 billion in the first five months, up 42.92%.
 
The country’s main imports were machinery and equipment worth US$181.9 million, up 56.98% on-year, motor components worth US$160.2 million, up 74.74% and car components worth US$156.5 million, up 67.44%, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
 
Vietnam and Thailand aim to raise the bilateral trade to US$10 billion in 2010, up from US$6.14 billion in 2009, including Vietnam’s trade deficit of US$3.54 billion. (Vinanet)
