Life on Dong Van Rock Plateau

Dong Van rock plateau is a visual demonstration of the persistent vitality of its inhabitants, although more than 80 percent of its natural area is limestone with little soil and hardly any water.

Overlooking the rocky plateau from the peak of Ma Pi Leng, you will not only see the greyness of rocks but also the immense greenness of maize, rice, beans and other plants. We can hardly find any traces of roughness; instead the overwhelming impression is a sparkling beauty on the ash-grey background typical of life in the rocky upland.

The greenness is joined by diligence of local people. The heavens, the earth, the rock and the people seem to intertwine to build the stunning beauty of this rocky plateau.
