Developers of the Dinh Vu Industrial Zone (DVIZ) first came to this area joining sea and land, the Dinh Vu Peninsula next to Haiphong, in 1997. Since then, millions of cubic metres of sea sand for land reclamation have been transported and hydraulically pumped to elevate and reclaim hundreds of hectares of sea frontage land. Experienced specialists of Rent-A-Port, the DVIZ’s main foreign shareholder, in cooperation with Haiphong Authorities, realised this vision.
In 2008, a new and strong shareholder took over all the shares of IAG: the company Rent-A-Port NV, a daughter of CFE, part of a large French Concession Group VINCI, and of the successful (and listed) industrial holding Ackermans & Van Haaren, member of BEL 20, the 20 largest companies of Belgium.
Since early 2009, Rent-A-Port is actively negotiating new extensions and new port related projects, some with DVIZ participation. The target is to obtain, invest and develop more than 1500 ha additional “industrial port land” from 2010.
Since 2002, Rent-A-Port has developed very strong ties with one of the largest and richest Qatari Companies - United Development Company (UDC). Together with UDC, Rent-A-Port has developed and built the famous reclamation and port project “The Pearl of Qatar”.
It is very promising indeed for Rent-A-Port and DVIZ, to have negotiated such strong interest for Vietnam from one of the most powerful groups of the Middle East. The project team is working hard on this project to make a dream come true.
The DVIZ offers areas for targeted industries namely Petrochemical, Heavy, and General Light Industry, with many investment incentives such as tax incentive and effective “One Stop Shop” service. There is easy, direct access to Dinh Vu General port of 20,000 DWT, the Dinh Vu Liquid Jetty up to 10,000 DWT, and to the second jetty (under construction) of up to 20,000 DWT. It is very conveniently located with excellent hinterland connections, near Cat Bi airport and the Haiphong- Lach Huyen International Gateway Port.
