Conference Seeking to Boost Agro Development Opens in HCM City
A conference on cooperation between the State, scientists, businesses and farmers in developing agricultural products for the poor opened in Ho Chi Minh City on November 29.
The two-day event offers an opportunity for these four sides to study investment potential, policies and rural development projects as well as new technologies in agricultural production.
The conference is co-held by the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) and the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
A representative from the IFAD said the fund’s goal was to provide capital and technical assistance for poor provinces to develop agricultural products and help farmers to build their trademarks.
The fund has implemented a project to gather farmers into small organizations and link them with trader and consumer associations in order to bring their products directly to major distributors, consumers and supermarket chains.
The project has been carried out in 11 provinces and cities nationwide, including Ha Giang, Cao Bang, Ha Tinh and Quang Binh.
The alliance of the State, scientists, businesses and farmers is an indispensable process of the development of the agricultural product market, said Tang Minh Loc from the Department of Economic Cooperation and Rural Development under the MARD.
It helps solve difficulties between farmers and businesses and seek consumption markets for agricultural products, he added. (Vietnam Plus)
