Vietnam, Singapore Boost Investment Cooperation

Hanoi’s Department of Information and Communication, Foreign Service Center and Singapore Embassy held an investment seminar in Hanoi on Dec 12 in move to boost two-side cooperation.
 
The event was a chance for Vietnamese firms, including those from Hanoi to seek Singaporean partners, Deputy Director of Hanoi Department of Home Affairs Nguyen Thanh Hai said, adding that it will hold more events to attract more Singapore enterprises.
 
Companies from Singapore have to date invested more than $17.88 billion in 852 projects in Vietnam, ranking the 5th among countries and territories making direct investment in the communist nation, Hai noted.
 
These projects mainly have focused in the fields of education and training; finance; communication and information; trade and service; transport; infrastructure and tourism, the official highlighted.
 
Enterprises from the island nation considered Vietnam an attractive destination for its projects, Chiong Woan Shin, IE Singapore's regional director for Vietnam and Cambodia earlier said.
 
Many Singaporean enterprises have penetrated in the Vietnamese markets, including Mapletree Investments Pte. Ltd, Bayswater Shipping and Forwarding Pte. Ltd and Banyan Tree Group. (Vietnam & World Economy)
