Only 360,000 Businesses in Operation
Only about 60 percent of companies, or 360,000 - 370,000 out of the total of 580,000 businesses across the country, are operational, according to a survey recently released by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI).
VCCI said the number of dissolved and bankrupt businesses in the first six months in 2011 doubled the same period from a year earlier, forcing many long-term investment projects to come to an end. One of major causes is hard access to capital sources. They cannot bear exorbitant interest rate of over 20 percent per annum.
