So far in 2012, Hoang Hoa has mobilised all resources to boost the growth rate of cultural and socio-economic sectors. These are important bases for Hoang Hoa’s comprehensive socio-economic growth by 2015.

High growth rate of industrial production, tourism and services
One of its key programmes is the development of industry-handicraft. In recent time, industrial and handicraft activities have seen high growth in both quantity and quality. Despite difficulties such as high material prices, bank interest rate, significant decrease in the number of labourers working in handicrafts due to the shift to industrial production, total industrial – handicraft production value in the first 6 months of 2012 was estimated VND 227,428 million, up by 21 percent year on year. Products with stable markets include leather shoes, balls, knitted bamboo, and pork for export.

There are also positive changes in tourism and service activities. The district has fostered investment in technical infrastructure for Bien Hai eco-tourism site, Hai Tien tourism site, created conditions for enterprises to invest in the development of restaurants, hotels and tourism projects. At present, there are 7 tourism developers.

Thriving agriculture, forestry and aquaculture
In the first 6 months of 2012, the District successfully implemented Instruction 14/CT-HU dated May 14th 2012 by the District Party Committee and Proposal 337/DA-UBND by the District People’s Committee on building intensive rice production zones with high productivity and quality in 2009-2013. By June 30th 2012, the district had completed the program of new rural development in all communes. The number of pigs is 78,257, that of cows is 16,775 and the poultry flock is 1,069,700. Total aquaculture production is 9,400 tonnes. Besides, attention has been drawn to forest fire prevention, thanks to which there have been no fire incidents in the first 6 months, and 72,000 new trees have been planted.

Mr Pham Ba Oai, Chairman of Hoang Hoa District People’s Committee, shared that the district will continue to fully mobilise and effectively use resources to promote development to increasing the proportion of service-industry-agriculture. To achieve that goal, Hoang Hoa has introduced many measures, including a focus on building policies to support and encourage service, tourism and commercial activities; investing in urban infrastructure, industrial-handicraft-trading villages complexes; gradually applying technological advances in production and trading to take advantage of regional potentials, and take advantage of livestock and plantation, and aquaculture growth. This will make Hoang Hoa develop rapidly and strongly so that it will become a sustainable key economic zone, corresponding to its role as the gateway district of Thanh Hoa city.
