Preparations on Course for Carlsberg Masters 2004 Completed

Preparations for Hanoi's first professional golf tournament, the Carlsberg Masters 2004 Vietnam, are complete as the Asian Tour's best players head to Chi Linh Star Golf and Country Club.

The inaugural US$200,000 event will start on Thursday through Sunday and it promises to be an exciting affair with some renowned players slated to battle for the first prize of US$32,300.

Former US Open winner Corey Pavin and current Asian Tour number one Thongchai Jaidee will headline the field which will include seven Vietnamese amateur players.

The brand new Chi Linh Star course, which has already received rave reviews, has taken all the necessary steps to ensure its layout is in immaculate condition and pose a stern challenge to Asia's top players.

Chi Linh Star Golf and Country Club Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Doan Van An said the club's grounds crew has worked long and hard hours to prepare for the Carlsberg Masters 2004 Vietnam.

"The Carlsberg Masters 2004 Vietnam will be one of Vietnam's biggest sporting events this year and Chi Linh Star has left no stones unturned to ensure that the first event is a great success.

"Our grounds staffs have prepared the golf course to its best possible condition and I'm sure the players will enjoy the challenge of playing on our championship course. It promises to be an exciting tournament as our course requires players to be at their best to shoot low scores at Chi Linh Star," said Doan.

The par 72, 7,097-yard layout at Chi Linh Star is the perfect venue to host the first Carlsberg Masters 2004 Vietnam, says South East Asia Brewery's, General Director Henrik J. Andersen, the company which produces the two well-known Carlsberg and Halida Beer in Vietnam.

"We have a great partner in Chi Linh Star and the club has worked very hard to ensure that preparations are smooth and ready for the big week. I am sure the Asian Tour players will enjoy the challenges offered at the golf course."

Andersen hopes that local fans will also come out in numbers to support Vietnam's amateur players in the field while enjoying the world-class golf on offer.

"With names like Thongchai Jaidee and Corey Pavin in the Carlsberg Masters 2004 Vietnam, golf fans in Hanoi should take this opportunity to watch the stars in action.

"We will also have seven Vietnamese players in the field and they should be given every possible support to do well. I am sure the amateurs will benefit by playing alongside some of Asia's finest players," said Andersen.

The Carlsberg Masters 2004 Vietnam will be the 19th leg on the Asian Tour, with three events remaining after this event.
