Thong Hiep Company: Rising up with Youth and Internal Energy

Born and raised in Tu Son district, Nguyen Quoc Tuan always wished to start a business in his homeland. To find a well-paid job in Tu Son district is not very difficult for him. He wanted to stand on his own foot and earn a living in his own way: Not only enrich himself but also the home land.

 

In 2001, Thong Hiep Co., Ltd. was established, the very beginning of his aspirations. He said: "Right in 1997 when Bac Ninh province was re-established, the provincial government introduced roadmaps to create breakthroughs in economic development and exert a strong pull on investment capital flows. Since then, the face of Bac Ninh has been changing day after day. Economic growth has accelerated urbanisation. Then, Tu Son town was founded and became a nucleus urban zone of the province. This also posed significant challenges to Tu Son town, where transport and urban infrastructure development and planning play pivotal roles. The establishment of Thong Hiep Co., Ltd was close to this process.”

 

At first, Thong Hiep took on transportation, irrigation and civil engineering projects. Its experience and capability had gradually accumulated. To be more active in business, the company has expanded into petroleum business and handicraft production. The greater autonomy in business processes increased its competitiveness in bidding and implementation of projects. Thus, Thong Hiep gradually became a leading urban construction company in Tu Son.

 

Seeing growing demand for entertainment services, Thong Hiep stepped into cable television. In 2004, the company became the only provider of cable television services in Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces. After two years of infrastructure investment, in 2006, the company was able to provide cable television service the local people. Thong Hiep has spared no effort to improve quality and diversify TV channels to better serve viewers.

 

Currently, the company is deploying a “3 in 1” service package. Users only need to subscribe to one package to watch channels provided by three leading cable television providers, namely Vietnam Cable Television, Hanoi Cable Television, and VTC Digital Television. With such a great benefit, subscriptions surged. Currently, the company is managing 25,000 subscribers. With this success, Thong Hiep expanded its business scope to neighbouring Bac Giang province. The company is looking to apply HD-standard television programmes to improve service quality and cooperating with local television stations to produce TV shows for Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces.

 

According to Director Nguyen Quoc Tuan, the above successes are just the beginning. Currently, the company is preparing for a new turning point: Traffic infrastructure construction investment. Starting from transport infrastructure development policies of Bac Ninh province and Tu Son town, Thong Hiep Company was assigned to take on two new roads, namely Trinh Xa - Da Hoi Road, and 295C Road along B2 canal in Tu Son town in the form of build - transfer (BT) investment. The project is divided into three phases, with each phase requiring approximately VND1,400 billion. Currently, the company is accelerating procedures to clear construction sites and set up counterpart projects.

 

Director Nguyen Quoc Tuan said the company is receiving strong support from the government of Tu Son town. Local residents have enough information about the project and positively cooperate with the company. Thong Hiep has also coordinated with many big partners to embark on the project. Once completed, this will be the main traffic route to connect Bac Ninh and Hanoi. This route also links urban and industrial zones in the town - the future industrial city.
