Vinh Tien Garment: Firm Step Forward

Vinh Tien Garment Joint Stock Company, which was formerly the Vinh Tien Garment Enterprise affiliated to Viet Tien Garment Corporation, was established under Decision 2204/QD-BCN dated August 17, 2006 of the Ministry of Industry. With its constant effort since its inception, the company has improved product quality and product diversification. The Vinh Tien Garment brand name has gradually asserted its position on the market and helped popularise Vietnamese garment brand on the world market.
Sustainable growth
After going public, Vinh Tien Garment tried to stabilise its production on the one hand and developed its workforce with the new regime on the other. With the leadership of the provincial government, the support of Viet Tien Garment Corporation and the valuable customer, SIG, the company managed to maintain and expand its operation.
 
Vinh Tien Garment now has nearly 1,600 employees. The production output increased from 2,528,000 products to 2,938,000 products in 2011. Revenue rose from VND50.04 billion to VND114.44 billion. Average monthly income of an employee leaped from VND1.57 million to VND3.71 million. The company always outdoes its annual plans. Besides, its tax payments also augment year after year, from VND4.86 billion in 2007 to VND14.95 billion in 2011.
In recent years, despite being affected by economic slowdown, Vinh Tien Garment still maintained and developed its operations thanks to sound direction, creativity and determination of the management and the staff. Living conditions of employees are guaranteed as their incomes were increased stably and steadily.
 
Protecting and caring for workers’ lives
Although it is a private company, Vinh Tien Garment Joint Stock Company set up the Trade Union at its inception. The Trade Union always provides valuable advice to the Board of Management to issue appropriate employment policies and proposes emulative campaigns to raise productivity, output and product quality. Rose Campaign is one of the most outstanding performance competition events. In 2012 alone, the company praised nearly 400 individuals and 45 collectives for their performance. The reward value was worth more than VND135 million.
 
In addition, to improve the material and spiritual life of workers, the Trade Union pays home visits to sick persons and birth-giving mothers. It also grants Nguyen Duc Canh scholarships for workers’ offspring and builds houses for workers suffering difficulties in securing accommodation. In 2013, it planned to build 10 houses for unionists and strived to increase average monthly income of a worker to VND4 million.
 
Mr Nguyen Minh Tue, Director of Vinh Tien Garment said: "Personnel is the most valuable property of a company. Apart from professional activities, activities of the Trade Union play a very important role in supporting human development. For that reason, we always care about this activity. In the coming time, we will create the most favourable conditions for the Trade Union to operate and develop from the grassroots. The Trade Union’s activities will motivate workers.”
 
In recognition of its contributions to the general cause, the Party, the State, governments at all levels, and agencies awarded the company many honours, including the Third-class Labour Order by the State President, the Certificate of Merits by the Prime Minister, seven Certificates of Merits by Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the Ministry of Public Security and the Social Insurance of Vietnam, three emulation flags and 16 Certificates of Merits by the provincial government. Especially, Vinh Tien Garment is a strong business of Vinh Long province in four consecutive years (2007 -2010). The Party Committee was certified “clean and healthy” in 10 straight years. The Trade Union and the Youth Union were also named “clean and strong” units in 10 years in a row.
 
With its creative steps and right strategies, Vinh Tien Garment has asserted its position on the market and contributed to the development of Vietnamese garment industry. This is also groundwork for Vinh Tien Garment to add effort to become a stronger brand name in the domestic and regional markets.
