Opportunities for Sustainable Tourism Development
“Well-performing, law-abiding businesses will be supported and sponsored. We must rule out illegal units to make the environment better and more sustainable,” said To Van Dong, Director of Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, at a conference on tourism legal documents.
Delivering the opening speech, Mr Dong said, the tourism sector still achieved remarkable results. Hanoi welcomed over 700,000 international arrivals and nearly 5 million domestic visitors in the first quarter of 2014, up 15 percent and 8 percent year on year, respectively. Revenue was estimated at nearly VND14 trillion. According to the plan set for 2014, the capital city is hoped to welcome 3 million international tourists and 16 million domestic tourists. Revenue is projected at VND45 trillion, up 20 percent year on year.
To achieve this plan, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has been actively implementing very specific solutions for both short and long terms.
Hanoi will build an entertainment centre with an area of 100-250 ha. Currently, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is drafting plans.
“The department is actively creating some cultural products to retain customers longer in Hanoi and make Hanoi a place to spend more. The department will try to take control and create the best environment for tourists,” said To Van Dong.
This year, the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism plans to grant awards to such receivers as the best international travel company.
New legal documents on tourism will create a fair, transparent, sustainable and best environment for businesses.
