A paper mill was constructed at Ha Giang village, Phu Lam commune, Tien Du district, Bac Ninh province in 1992. This is the forerunner of Phu Giang Paper and Packaging Company. After more than 20 years of construction and development, the company has become a leading paper and package producer and a service provider in Bac Ninh province. In the past years, with its strong internal forces and determinations, the vision of the leader, and the unity and consensus of all the staff, the company still has stable and growing business operations.
Currently, the company has three paper mills with five production lines with an annual capacity of 40,000 tonnes. Two production lines make Kraft paper and three production lines produce Duplex paper. The three mills are now employing more than 300 workers. In 2004, the company invested VND25 billion to build Phu Son Tourism, Culture and Sports Centre in Vu Ninh Ward, Bac Ninh City. Situated on a 10,000-square metre plot at the heart of Bac Ninh City, the tree-shaded centre has swimming pools, waterfalls, outdoor sports facilities and is featured with a mixed architecture of Vietnamese wooden house, Chinese multi-storey house and French high-rise building. The centre has become a cultural address for domestic and foreign visitors. The Phoenix Hotel 2 has 30 rooms and Phoenix Hotel 3 has 23 rooms of international standard. Currently, these facilities have 200 employees. In June 2012, it set up the third paper mill with an annual output of 30,000 tonnes of paper with similar quality as imports. This factory employs more than 100 workers.
Despite many difficulties in 2014, the company still managed to stabilise production, ensure good employment and complete financial obligations to the State by cutting recurrent expenses, applying performance rewards, and ensuring product quality and efficiency. With its achievements and efforts, Phu Giang Paper and Packaging Company has been awarded many prizes and titles from the Party, the State, and ministries, central and local agencies.
Deputy General Director Luong Quoc Toan said "The core value of Phu Giang is personnel. All the staff is trained of professional skills.” The company always applies statutory employment regulations like health insurance and social insurance. Besides, they are granted allowances, rewards and aids in case of needs. Excursions for employees are made annual. Furthermore, Phu Giang actively takes part in social and charitable activities like.
