PVC-MS: Constant Growth

Impressive achievementsPVC-MS, which was formerly a steel structure factory under the Petroleum Construction Enterprise (currently PVC Corporation), provides petroleum construction services for oil and gas production, transportation, storage and processing. The company's traditional products are construction, fabrication and installation of oil and gas platforms, tanks, process piping and pipelines, manufacturing of mechanical petroleum equipment and out-of-gauge (OOG) equipment.

 

To become a full-service contractor, since its inception, PVC-MS has focused intensively on investing in modern infrastructure and equipment to serve its business operations, including a metal structure and petroleum equipment manufacturing yard in Sao Mai Ben Dinh marine base, enabling the company to take on EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) and EPCI (engineering, procurement, construction and installation) contracts for domestic and international investors. In addition to its synchronous yard, PVC-MS has modern construction machines like crawler cranes, wheeled cranes, automatic welding machines, automatic cutting machines and others.

 

Staffed by professional human resources, PVC-MS has safely fabricated and manufactured nearly 60 per cent of offshore rigs, more than 90 per cent of DK1 rigs and many tanks, pipelines, oil and gas processing plants, and gas power plants for the Vietnamese oil and gas industry. Projects undertaken by PVC-MS are always guaranteed absolute security, quality and progress pledged to investors, including the fabrication and installation of 65 pedestals and 17 topside rigs; the fabrication of Dai Hung pedestal stand of 7,200 tonnes and Thi Vai cold LPG tank, the fabrication of E-house equipment for Su Tu Vang Dong Bac and Su Tu Nau projects. The presence of PVC-MS-branded petroleum engineering products has opened a new strategic business field for PVC-MS and provided high-quality products at lower prices than imported ones for domestic oil and gas contractors.

 

When it acted as the EPCI contractor for the first time, PVC-MS the Topside H4 Te Giac Trang platform 37 days ahead of schedule, thus helping the customer increase revenue by US$66 million and cut investment cost by US$10 million. PVC-MS also joined many key national onshore projects, including a pipeline for Dinh Co - Phu My gas plant, PM3 Ca Mau pipelines, Thi Vai cold LPG tank, Dung Quat oil refinery, gas - power - fertiliser plants, and petroleum depots. Besides, PVC-MS is a key player together with Vietsovpetro Joint Venture to build military works for the Ministry of National Defence. The two companies have repaired and upgraded many military works in 2014 and 2015.

 

PVC-MS always ensures best policies and treatments for employees and improves working conditions and occupational safety for them. The company is proud to have had no fatal occupational accidents since it started operations. The firm now has nearly 1,700 employees, including more than 300 holding doctor, master and engineer degrees and nearly 500 welders with international certificates. With its outstanding economic, social and defence achievements, PVC-MS has been honourably bestowed Second-class Fatherland Protection Order, Third-class Independence Order, Labour Orders of first, second and third classes, Emulation Flags, and Certificates of Merit from the Party, the State, the Government, ministries, Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PetroVietnam) and PVC Corporation. Besides, PVC-MS was granted ISO2008 Gold Cup and named the Best Asia Pacific SME in the US-based Forbes Magazine in 2011. It was also ranked 196th out of 1,000 top taxpayers in Vietnam in 2012 by Vietnam Ratings Joint Stock Company and named among the Top 50 Vietnam Listed Companies in 2013 by Forbes.

According to Mr Nguyen Dinh The, Director of PVC-MS, defining personnel is the key factor to the success or failure, particularly among the younger generation, to ensure continuous growth for PVC-MS in the coming time, PVC-MS attaches much importance to internal training for young workers to enrich their practical experience. Besides, PVC-MS's personnel policies are based on international standards which respect legitimate rights and interest of employees and improve livelihoods for them and their families. Indeed, these policies enable the company to increase its appeal to new talent and strengthen the loyalty and devotion of current staff members.

 

The PVC-MS culture is also expressed by social welfare activities like building houses for the poor, presenting gifts in cash and in kind for orphans, children exposed to Agent Orange, students and schools. Every year, PVC-MS gives about VND4 billion for these significant works.

 

With good personnel, competencies, right business strategies and good forecasts, PVC-MS has maintained the average annual growth of 174.2 per cent since 2008 and ensured employment for nearly 1,700 employees.

 

In recent tough years, PVC-MS has gotten through economic crisis to boost its development, stability and efficiency to assert its name on the market, partially thanks to direct and timely support of PVC Corporation and PetroVietnam Group.

 

According to the PetroVietnam restructuring scheme, PVC-MS will hold the key role in PVC Corporation in building onshore and offshore petroleum works. PetroVietnam will carry out a lot of onshore projects in the coming years.
