HISAKA WORKS: Confidence in Vietnam’s Potential Machinery Market

With stable GDP growth in recent years and multilateral strategy of international economic integration through FTAs with world leading partners and AEC, Hisaka Works Ltd from Japan has strong confidence in developing Vietnam’s industrial sector. Vietnam Business Forum interviews Mr Hiroyuki Takebayashi, Managing Director of Hisaka Works Singapore Pte Ltd. Nam Pham reports.
 
Can you briefly introduce HISAKA WORKS?
Hisaka, established in 1942 in Japan and developed the first plate heat exchanger in 1953, is a world leading manufacturer of plate heat exchangers. We have exported to over 70 countries worldwide, had earned a very good reputation from users in various countries.
 
Hisaka plate heat exchangers are heating or cooling machines involving two flowing mediums. Its thermal principles are such as heat recovery, heat exchanging, condensation, sterilization, heat recycling, and many others. With this technology, it has been playing an important role in various industries such as chemicals, food, automotive, oil refinery, textile, marine, HVAC, power plants, steel, pulp and paper, and a lot more. In a way, most industrial processes involves heating and cooling. Hence, Hisaka plate heat exchangers assist in the majority of all industries.
 
We set up our office in Ho Chi Minh City in 2010 and have seen a stable growth annually. Around 60 percent of our clients in Vietnam are Japanese companies. We are focusing on the major customers such as the oil refineries of Dung Quat and Nghi Son, the power plants of Phu My and Mong Duong, Toyota, Honda and others.  
What is your forecast of Vietnam’s machinery market growth in coming years?
We believe Vietnam has maintained stable GDP growth of 5-6 percent in this recent years and is expected to remain positive growth rate for the coming 3-5 years. Also, rapid development in infrastructure facilities such as oil refineries, petrochemicals, and power sectors industries have created a lot of opportunities for Hisaka to expand our product in the market.
 
Aside of that, establishment of ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) at the end of the year 2015, signing of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) between Vietnam and many important partners will boost the business markets in Vietnam's machinery and engineering industries. As a conclusion, we expected that market growth for Vietnam machinery will remain positive.
 
Can you mention marketing strategy of HISAKA in Vietnam?
There are a lot of Japanese-invested companies located in northern Vietnam, therefore, we will establish a sales office in Hanoi this year to expand our service effectively and securing our brand name in the Vietnamese market.
 
In addition, to widen our brand name, we also collaborate with the local engineering universities to provide them our plate heat exchanger units as a part of teaching material for the students.
 
Vietnam Manufacturing Expo 2015 is considered a good platform for Vietnamese industrialists. What will Hisaka display at the show?
VME is one of the leading exhibitions for Vietnam’s industrial sector. By participating in this exhibition, we are able to generate more new potential customers and it served as one of our marketing strategies. In this exhibition, we will be displaying our Plate Heat Exchanger module and visitors are can acquire a better understanding on the product that we manufactured.
