More Opportunities for Vietnam Electric Cable Firms to Acquire Technology
To promote the transfer of modern technologies and techniques and expand international cooperation in the electric cable field, the German Industry and Commerce Chamber in Vietnam cooperated with Messe Duesseldorf Asia Company to organise a technical seminar on electric cables and wires in Ho Chi Minh City.
Attending electric cable and wire companies had the chance to access the most modern, latest technologies from Europe-leading electric cable and wire companies like Niehoff Group, Nextrom-Rosendahl - Knill Gruppe, Resy Filtration, Sikora, Esteves and Eder Engineering.
A representative from the German Commerce & Industry Chamber in Vietnam said wire and cable products are rated strategic industrial products of Vietnam. Currently, Vietnam has over 200 manufacturers and exporters of electric wires and cables, including many wholly and partially foreign-owned companies with huge production scales and modern production lines. With the advantages of high quality and competitive price, Vietnamese electric cables and wires outdo other competitors in bidding tenders, including big competitors from China. Not only meeting the domestic market, Vietnamese electric cables and wires are also exported to many countries in the world. In 2014, Vietnam earned US$678,447,447 from the export of these products, up 15.56 percent year over year, and raked in US$272,839,862 in the first four months of 2015, up 23.1 percent against the same period of 2014.
Mr Nguyen Loc, CEO of Vietnam Electric Cable Corporation (Cadivi) and Chairman of HCM City Electric Cables Association, said Vietnamese companies meet about 90 percent of the domestic demand for electric cables and wires. Regarding technological and equipment level, Vietnamese manufacturers have gradually narrowed the gap with manufacturers in Southeast Asia. He hoped that, via this seminar, Vietnamese electric cable and wire companies acquired new knowledge and equipment and learned useful experience from European manufacturers to enhance their competitiveness to bring the electric cable and wire industry to new highs.
