The Vietnam National Coal - Mineral Industries Holding Corporation Limited (Vinacomin) continued to see growth in production and business activities in the first half of 2015. Vinacomin’s revenue reached an estimated VND54.7 trillion, a year-on-year rise of 3.5 percent.
Vinacomin and its member units strived to maintain production and ensured employment for workers. Turnover of production fields achieved 46-50 percent of the year’s plan.
About 39 percent of the electricity produced worldwide is from coal and this rate will be maintained until 2030. Coal is vital not only for electricity production, but also as raw material for a number of industries such as steel, metal, cement, liquid fuels, paper and fertilizer. This year, Vinacomin aims to sell about 38 million tonnes of coal.
Among 8 companies listed coal, Vang Danh Coal JSC produced, in the first 6 months, 1,854,633 tonnes of coal, reaching 56.3 percent of the year plan, up 5.6 percent from the same period of 2014. The other targets are exceeded, including: Clean coal of 55 percent, sales of VND1,809 billion, the average salary of over VND11 million per person per month.
According to Vinacomin, the Mao Khe Coal Company produced 476,576 tonnes of coal, tunnelled 4,885m in Q2, 2015; consumed over 360,000 tonnes of coal with revenue reaching over VND440 trillion and the average income reaching VND9.3 million per person per month. In Q3/2015, the Company strives to produce 457,623 tonnes of coal, tunnel 4,779m; consume 389,000 tonnes of coal, revenue of VND444 trillion.
In the first 6 months, Coc Sau Coal JSC exerted their strength to carry out the production and business plans, maintain productive progress, although there were a lot of difficulties in business of coal. Coc Sau Coal JSC attained many achievements in the first 6 months including crude coal mining over 1.9 million tonnes, meeting 57 percent of year plan; coal selling 1.88 million tonnes, accounting 56 percent year plan; the total turnover in 6 months reached VND2,400 billion, accounting 56.8 percent year plan; average salary of workers reached VND6.6 million/person/month. The company contributed VND328,6 billion to State budget.
Deo Nai Coal Company produced 1.2 million tonnes of coal in the first 6 months, meeting 65 percent of the 2015 plan. This company consumed 1.12 million tonnes of coal, accounting 59 percent of year plan, reaching VND1,340 billion. Average income of workers reached VND6.5 million/person/month.
Vinacomin - Nam Mau Coal Company faced numerous difficulties and challenges due to the rising of the price of commodities, supplies and energy, etc. However, by enhancing solutions of reducing production costs, saving energy and materials, the company still maintained production and business activities, meeting 50 percent of the plan in 2015. For the rest time of 2015 , Nam Mau coal set target of producing over 1.1 million tonnes of rude coal, dig 12,700 m of tunnel.
Vinacomin sees that coal production and consumption will still face numerous difficulties and challenges. However, by enhancing solutions of reducing production costs, saving energy and materials, it aims to maintain production and business activities, striving to complete the plan in 2015 as scheduled.
