With creative ideas and long term visions for economic development, Tan Thuan Industrial Promotion Co., Ltd (IPC) has become a leading investor and operator of infrastructure for urban economic development. In 2014, the company system fetched total revenue of nearly VND7 trillion, made net profit of VND2,948 billion, and created over 2,300 jobs. Needless to say, IPC Company has made considerable contributions to socioeconomic development of Ho Chi Minh City and given a significant role in the “Forward to the East Sea” Strategy and as well as the southern expansion scheme.
25 years of prominent name
IPC was formerly Tan Thuan Export Industrial Park Programme set up in 1989 to conduct research and cooperation on direct investment to form industrial parks and export processing zones to promote socioeconomic development of HCM City. Since the early days of its operation, Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone has left remarkable impressions on economic reform, employment generation and export increase of Vietnam. With the success of Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone, IPC consecutively launched big projects that vividly showed the important position of a leading industrial urban infrastructure developer of the city. In 1993, IPC continued to cooperate with CT&D Group to build 17.8-km Nguyen Van Linh Parkway connecting Tan Thuan Export Processing Zone with National Road 1 and developed Phu My Hung Urban Area. From 1994 to 1996, IPC continued to reap great success with the establishment of South Saigon Development Joint Stock Company (Sadeco) and the construction of Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park as approved by the Prime Minister.
In 2004, after being transformed into a parent company, IPC continued to launch important projects like carrying out 141.85 - ha Long Hau Industrial Park (Phase 1) and establishing Saigon Premier Container Terminal Company (SPCT) to build Saigon Premier Container Terminal with an annual throughput up to 1.5 million TEUs (in cooperation with P&O Group of the UK and later the DPW of Dubai). Currently, the company was assigned to deploy the construction project of Hiep Phuoc Urban - Industrial - Port Complex in Nha Be district.
So far, after more than 25 years of construction and development, IPC has confirmed its position and importance, evidenced by its noble awards like Third-class Labour Order (1998), Second-class Labour Order (2009), and First-class Labour Order (2014).
Active player in “Forward to the East Sea” of HCM City
With specific projects, IPC also plays its key role in “Forward to the East Sea” strategy of HCM City. According to HCM City’s socioeconomic master plan to 2020, with a vision to 2025, the southern region will be one of two main development directions of the city. And, to carry out that strategy, the city has worked out specific policies to attract domestic and foreign investment capital.
Accordingly, IPC gradually studied and implemented schemes to expand southern urban space to approach the East Sea and contribute to the city’s economic restructuring strategy. Its typical projects include 1,354-ha Hiep Phuoc Urban Area (New Saigon Urban Area) construction project, Hiep Phuoc Downstream Port area construction project (Saigon Downstream Port Area), and Hiep Phuoc Industrial Park construction project (Phase 3).
Apart from building export processing zones, industrial zones, urban zones and ports, IPC has constantly researched and proposed HCM City to carry out infrastructure works from road, rail and seaborne to industrial zones, logistics zones, Hiep Phuoc Downstream Port Area and Hiep Phuoc Urban Area. The company proposed dredging the Soai Rap River for vessels up to 50,000 tonnes to reach Hiep Phuoc Port. Simultaneously, the firm continued to study on groundbreaking production and business mechanisms and policies in order to establish an attractive investment environment for domestic and foreign investors.
Core values that create the brand of the company are the direction of the Government and HCM City People’s Committee and the devotion of all the staff to the company’s mission of developing the city’s economy and society. The concern now has over 2,300 employees arranged professionally, neatly and enably to be adjusted according to work’s demand.
In addition to production and business front, IPC very much focuses on social activities in the local community like donating funds in support of the poor and dioxin-affected victims. The scholarship programme, IPC - Add force to school, is a meaningful programme carried out in Nha Be district since 2009 and awarded nearly 1,400 scholarships to poor students with good education results. IPC also took care of policy-benefiting families and the poor on the occasion of public holidays.
