On February 25, Sao Mai Group solemnly held the New Year meeting and honourably received the Third-class Labour Medal with the participation of more than 300 guests and 600 excellence staff, representing more than 7,000 officials and employees of the group.
Ms Vo Thi Anh Xuan, member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, by authorization of the State President, awarded this Third-class Labour Medal to Sao Mai Group for its outstanding achievements in manufacturing and business activities, thereby, having positive contributions to the community and the society.
Established since 1997, from a small business with a low starting point, after nearly 20 years of construction and development, currently, Sao Mai Group has become a leading economic group in the Mekong Delta with 12 member companies, the total charter capital of over VND4,400 billion and has been providing more than 7,000 jobs. In 2015, the Group achieved the sales of VND4,440 billion, increased by 7.8 per cent, its net profit after taxation reached over VND231 billion, increasing VND8 billion compared with the year 2014.
At the New Year meeting, Mr Ho Viet Hiep, Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee of An Giang Province stated that he was really impressed by the great development of Sao Mai Group. "We have followed the movements of Sao Mai Group since 1997 and found that Sao Mai Group has made spectacular progresses. From a small company with only about 10 employees, Sao Mai Group has developed into an enterprise with thousands of employees, operating in various fields, with the charter capital of more than VND4 trillion and the total assets of over VND10 trillion.
In addition to the development of business, we must affirm that Sao Mai Group also has a high social responsibility. Particularly in An Giang, in recent years, Sao Mai Group has contributed to the budget of about VND100 billion every year, creating more than 6,000 jobs and using its profits to share with the society, for example, in the recent Lunar New Year, the Group funded the Province approximately VND5 billion for performing social activities and awarded over 5,000 gifts to support disadvantaged people. Therefore, on behalf of the government and the people of An Giang Province, I warmly appreciate the spirit and the contribution of Sao Mai Group", Mr Hiep said.
At the meeting, Mr Le Thanh Thuan, Chairman of the Board of Directors, General Director of Sao Mai Group also stated “The year 2015 is the 9th year that the economy of Vietnam and the world have suffered from the strong impact of the global economic crisis, with a huge “destructive” intensity; many businesses were shut down, even bankrupted. Sao Mai Group was no exception. However, the presence of the guests and 700 staff representing 7,000 employees of the Group demonstrates the crisis has not gone through but Sao Mai Group has made strong development steps. With this team, with its dreams and aspirations I believe that in 2016 Sao Mai Group will continue completing its bigger plans and achievements”.
In addition, Mr Le Thanh Thuan also undertook Sao Mai Group would made more efforts, seizing the opportunities to integrate into the world economy in order to develop Sao Mai into a strong multi-sector economic group in the region.
