Vietnam, Netherlands Join Hands for Environmental Protection

On the occasion that Vietnam and the Netherlands jointly celebrate big anniversaries in April, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Vietnam in cooperation with the People’s Committee of Hanoi City to light up the Hang Dau water tower located on Hang Dau Street, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi from April 16 to 27, 2016. The project, funded by Dutch company Philips, is a symbol of close friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and the Netherlands.
With this project, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Vietnam and the Hanoi People's Committee want to bring a fresh and innovative look to the unique cylindrical water tower and remind local people of the beauty of Hanoi’s historic landmark, built in 1894.
Themed “Vietnam-Holland: Partners in water” the spotlight reflects the strong partnership on climate change adaptation and water management. The Netherlands actively supports Vietnam in the implementation of the Mekong Delta Plan, which provides a long-term vision for the sustainable development of this crucial region.
The lighting of the water tower is part of the “Tomorrow is Green” campaign initiated by the Embassy and Consulate General of the Netherlands in Vietnam. The campaign calls for joint solutions for a sustainable and prosperous future.
