Number of Vietnamese Tourists to Malaysia in 2004 up 194.3 per cent

The number of Vietnamese tourists to Malaysia in 2004 hit a record high of 42,088, up 194.3 per cent over 2003 and marking a successful year for Tourism Malaysia in Vietnam.

Malaysia received 18,729 Vietnamese visitors in 2001, 21,158 in 2002 and 21,663 in 2003. This year, Tourism Malaysia has acknowledged the remarkable growth of the Vietnamese market and pledged to carry out more promotion activities to obtain a target of over 45,000 Vietnamese tourists.

2004 was not only successful for Tourism Malaysia Vietnam, including two representative offices in Hanoi and HCM City, but also Tourism Malaysia in general. Last year, Malaysia welcomed 15,703,406 international tourists, up 13.3 million of the year’s plan and reaching a 48.5 per cent growth. Malaysia is expected to lure 16.4 million international visitors in 2005.
