"Sofitel Vinpearl Resort & Spa" - Nha Trang's Largest Marine Eco-Tourism Resort Opens its Doors

The 100 per cent Vietnamese-invested Hon Tre Tourism and Trade Company has recently announced that France’s world leading hotels corporation, Accor has won the management contract for the Vinpearl Resort & Spa Hotel, located in Hon Tre Island, Nha Trang City. The event follows the announcement ceremony held on April 19, 2005, which aimed to re-brand the hotel into “Sofitel Vinpearl Resort & Spa”.

Sofitel Vinpearl Resort & Spa will be the fifth five-star luxury Sofitel in Vietnam, joining the legendary Sofitel Metropole Hanoi, Sofitel Plaza Hanoi, Sofitel Dalat Palace and Sofitel Plaza Saigon. Accor Asia Chairman Patrick Basset says, “Vietnam is a safe destination, attracting more than 3 million international arrivals over recent years. Accor has led Asia in terms of revenue and profit with respective rises of 30 per cent and 40 per cent. I believe that Sofitel Vinpearl Resort & Spa will welcome large numbers of foreign tourists in the coming time as the hotel lies on a beautiful stretch of beach 110-metres long, with white sand and crystal clear waters.”

Sofitel Vinpearl was built with total investment of VND450 billion in 2002 on Hon Tre Island, Nha Trang City and came into operation in December 18, 2003. Covering an area of 150 hectares, it is the largest five-star resort in Vietnam. The resort, having a 700-metre stretch of sand beach, features 500 guestrooms, three villas for families, and a 6,000-square-metre swimming pool – the largest freshwater pool in Southeast Asia.

The Vinpearl Resort & Spa Hotel also includes a meeting room, which is large enough to accommodate 1,000 delegates, a theatre, massage & spa centre, a seafood restaurant, a body-building room, a sport and recreation area, bars and karaoke facilities. In 2004, Vinpearl Resort was officially opened to host both local and international guests. To date, the resort has welcomed as many as 30,000 arrivals from countries and territories worldwide.

“The Hon Tre Tourism and Trade Company have also planned to build another four-star hotel, a Vietnamese cuisine village, a coastal environmental entertainment area stretching over 40ha of land along the south-eastern part of the island. Construction on 200 villas and a 150-hectare golf course are underway in Dam Gia.  Other water sports available at the hotel such as rowing, kite surfing, and gliding are being built in the north-western part of the island. Once these projects are completed, the Hon Tre Island is expected to become an international relaxation and recreation resort, satisfying the wide ranging interests of both local and foreign tourists. A 3.5-km cable line to be installed in 2006 will narrow the distance between the island and the mainland,” said Le Khac Hiep, the company general director.

According to the deputy head of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, the close cooperation between the world leading hotels corporation Accor and Vietnam on the hotel management of Vinpearl Resort will certainly help make it a successful high-grade luxury hotel in Nha Trang City, luring more and more domestic and international tourists in the future.
