A large seaside recreation complex with international-standard tourism services has been officially opened adjacent to the World Heritage Site of Hoi An ancient town in central Quang Nam province.

The four-star Palm Garden Resort, covering an area of five hectares on a 220 meter-long sand in Cua Dai beach, Cam An commune was built within 18 months at estimated costs of VND100 billion (US$6.3 million), announced the investor, Ho Chi Minh City-based Phuoc Thinh Textile Corp.

The complex comprises of 173 villas with 120 high-grade bedrooms and excellent tours, entertainment, sports, and safety facilities, investors said, adding that it also has an international-standard conference hall with modern media equipment.

According to the investor, renowned international experts will manage the resort.

During the Quang Nam Heritage Itinerary 2005, which was closed on March 27 and considered as one of the biggest cultural and tourism events in the country, Palm Garden Resort also hosted several festive activities to attract tourists.

Sources from local authorities revealed that in the recent time, a series of investors both domestic and foreign have eyed tourism projects around the site and near the various existing high-class resorts.

Dating from the 15th to the 19th century, Hoi An is an exceptionally well-preserved example of a regional port. Its buildings and its street plan reflect the influences, both indigenous and foreign, that combined to produce this unique heritage site.
