Another Japanese TV Promotes Vietnam Tourism

Tokyo TV, one of the biggest TV channels in Japan, has started shooting a documentary report about Vietnam’s tourism industry, marking the second recent Japanese TV program to introduce the communist country’s beauty to their viewers.

The report, entitled “Stories about Two Cities of Vietnam” will feature Vietnam’s tourist attractions and cuisine in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

The documentary is planned to be on air on June 25, representatives from the channel revealed.

Last month, Asahi Television shot its second documentary series filming landscapes across the communist nation.

The 17-part series was broadcasted on the Asahi channel in May, following the success of the 2004 documentary entitled “Lovely Vietnam”, which made a big impact on the Japanese people.

According to the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) – the tourism management body of Vietnam – the moves from the Japanese communication circle reflect effectiveness of Vietnam’s tourism promotion campaigns towards the Sun-rising country in the recent time.

Officials from Japanese tour operation agencies revealed that Japanese visitors, particularly young people, have been captivated by images from Vietnam. “There has been a so-called Vietnam Fever in Japan”, they said, adding that such TV programs have both roused enthusiasm and responded to demand from Japanese audiences.

Sharing the same view with Japanese tourism experts, an official from VNAT noted that the move is hoped to help boost the number of Japanese arrivals to Vietnam.

Earlier last month, Vietnam and Japan signed a tourism pack and agreed to set up a joint taskforce to concrete plans of bilateral cooperation in the field.

Japan now ranks as the communist's fourth largest market with nearly 111,000 visitors in the first five months of this year, up 17.8 per cent on-year.
