Vietnam-Indonesia Cooperation Relation Boosted

In the working visit to Indonesia in late February of Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, 45 Vietnamese enterprises had meetings with Indonesian partners to seek more business opportunities. 
 
Under the cooperation framework between the two countries, Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry successfully organised the Vietnam-Indonesia Business Forum on February 23, 2006. At the forum, Vietnamese and Indonesian enterprises gave many questions regarding economic policies, investment environment as well as measures to further boost the cooperation relation between the two countries.
 
On behalf of the two countries’ business communities, Doan Duy Khuong Ph.D, VCCI Vice President, and Mr. Joan Kusumo, Vice President of Indonesia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, signed an agreement on information exchange under the witness of Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, high-ranking officials of the two countries and Vietnamese and Indonesian business communities.

In recent years, the two-way trade has always stood at US$1 billion per year, of which Vietnam has a trade deficit of around US$100-200 million. Regarding investment in Vietnam, Indonesia ranks fifth among ASEAN countries with 13 projects with total capital of US$130 million.
