Vietnam Plans US$1.4Mln for Tourism Promotion Abroad in 2007
Vietnam is expected to inject VND23 billion (US$1.4 million) into tourism promotion programs in foreign countries next year with the aim of luring more international tourists to the country in the future.
Pham Huu Minh, Director of the Tourism Promotion Agency under the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) said the program will mainly focus on key tourism markets of the country.
The capital will be used for participation in large international tourism events in Singapore, Germany, South Korea, Japan, Thailand, Indonesia, the US, China, India, Russia and France, and for planned promotion on foreign mass media.
As planned, Vietnam is going to welcome ten international groups arriving in the country to study tourism potential next year. They include travel firms and foreign media interested in local tourism who want to boost tourism ties with the local government.
Vietnam targets 4.2 million foreign arrivals in 2007, 16 per cent higher than the last year, and earn revenue of US$2.5 billion.
