The fast-growing stock market has enriched many stock investors and they can afford cars to show off their riches.

In the first three months this year, VAMA carmakers sold 12,183 vehicles, up 157 per cent on year.

Toyota remained the largest carmaker with 28.75 per cent of market share, and the smallest firm was Vinacomin with only 60 units sold.

Vietnam imported 2,000 assembled cars valued at US$55 million in the first three months, down 30.7 per cent on year by volume and 4.7 per cent by value. Imports of cars and car parts together were worth US$134 million, down 9.7 per cent on year.
