Vietnam Exports to Canada to Rise 20 per cent This Year
Vietnam is estimated to reap US$660-670 million from goods exports to Canada in 2007, an on-year increase of 20 per cent, said the Ministry of Trade (MoT).
Structure of key export items to the American country will see no big change this year, the ministry added.
Apparel will remain the biggest cash earner with around US$200 million, up 50 per cent on-year.
Currently, the Southeast Asian country ranks second among footwear exporters to Canada, just after China. Vietnamese footwear exports account for 8 per cent of Canada’s import market share.
This year, Vietnam is expected to earn US$160 million from footwear exports to the foreign country, up 25 per cent on-year.
Seafood, woodwork products and bicycle and spare parts are among Vietnam’s staple exports to Canada, and are estimated to reap respective revenues of US$72-75 million, US$60 million and US$25.4 million this year, up 20 per cent, 40-45 per cent, and 60 per cent. (Vietnam Economic Times)
