Software Industry Targets US$800Mln Revenues by 2010
Vietnam has set a target to keep software industry annual growth at 35-40 per cent, and obtain total revenue over US$800 million by 2010, local media said.
Foreign clients will contribute at least 40 per cent to software earnings, it said, quoting the Vietnam Software Industry Development plan to 2010, which was approved by the government in mid-April.
The software industry will recruit 55,000-60,000 IT engineers by then. “Vietnam must have around 10 software companies with over 1,000 employees, and 200 companies with over 100 employees,” said the program.
The program said Vietnam will strive to become the most attractive place for software firms in the world, and to become one of the world’s top 15 software subcontractors by 2010.
The Vietnamese government has agreed to spend US$70 million to develop the software industry from now until 2010. (VnEconomy)
