The golf tournament called “Swing for the Kids 2007” will officially take place at Chi Linh Star Golf and Country Club on June 2, 2007, announced Mr. Nguyen Anh Tuan, Editor-in-Chief of Dau Tu Newspaper and Vietnam Investment Review, the organizer, on May 21.
The charity event, with the participation of around 240 golfers who are Vietnamese business people, officials and many foreigners, was organized with the aim of raising funds from sponsors and players for supporting activities of Vietnamese children.
Apart from the charity purpose, the sport event will partly help business people exchange views and strengthen business relations via exciting moments on the golf course, Mr. Tuan said.
The organizing board expects to call for around US$30,000 to assist and encourage poor students across the country, mainly in northern mountainous provinces and some others in the Central of Vietnam, Mr. Tuan stressed.
Golfers, divided into the four divisions of Division A (Handicap from 0 –15), Division B (Handicap from 16 –28), Ladies Division, and Callaway division, will tee off at 6:45am and 12:15pm with the Shotgun Start format. The Prize Presentation Ceremony will be held at 19:30pm on the same day at Sofitel Plaza Hanoi Hotel with auction sales to raise funds, many attractive prizes and lucky draws.
Hanaka Corporation and Prudential Vietnam, the two diamond sponsors, Chi Linh Star Golf and Country Club, Vincom Joint-stock Co., Sofitel Plaza Hanoi Hotel, and others sponsor the tournament.
According to Mr. Nguyen Van Hao, Deputy General Director of Prudential Vietnam, thanks to special purposes of the tournament, his company pledges to continue sponsoring for the next years’ events.
