Sixty percent of large-scale enterprises in the southern economic hub, Ho Chi Minh City will apply E-commerce transactions under the B2B (Business to Business) form in the 2007-2010 period, said a municipal authority.
The city’s vice mayor Nguyen Thi Hong made the saying during a meeting July 19 on draft E-commerce development program in the metropolis in the next three years.
Under the planned program, all medium-sized firms will have websites on the issue while all small-scale enterprises will join e-commerce transactions and 10 per cent of households will use e-commerce for shopping during the period.
Hong asked relevant agencies and authorities to speed up opinion contributions and adjustment on the draft program to submit to the municipal government for approval in July this year.
The program is due for official application in the city in the third quarter of 2007.
Regarding the Vietnam E-Commerce Association (Vecom), the Ministry of Trade said that 130 enterprises have registered for joining the institution, which is a non-government organization operated on a voluntary and non-profit basis, with the aim of gathering and associating members to develop e-commerce in the Southeast Asian country.
