Central localities of Vietnam, including Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, and Danang July 30 held a Road-show in Bangkok, Thailand to showcase their tourism and cultural attractions to lure more local people to the region.

The show, presided over by the Vietnam National Administration for Tourism (VNAT), was attended by representatives of more than 60 travel companies and airlines and reporters from 30 Thai news agencies.

Executives from more than 30 tourist companies and hotels from the Vietnamese side also joined the event, looking for partnerships with Thai partners.

Thailand is an important partner for Vietnam in promoting tourism in the central region, particularly after the East-West Economic Corridor was inaugurated, a VNAT official said, revealing that Vietnamese and Thai tourism authorities also launched an advertising campaign in Vietnam last May to promote travel between the two nations.

The number of Thai tourist arrivals to Vietnam’s central region has increased in recent times, Thanik Kachonkitisakul, general manager of Thai tourist firm 2020 Travel, said, hoping that the number will double this year.

Vietnam welcomed more than 93,600 arrivals from Thailand in the first seven months of this year, posting an on-year increase of 34.9 per cent. (Young People, Labor)
